To avoid problems of parking, we decided to leave the car in Vejer and to start the route from the same village.
We left the car in front of the coach station and drove towards the entrance of the park. Soon, we arrived at a small path which led us to the Retiro street.
In this point, we left the park behind us and walked a few meters along the road.
A few minutes later at our left hand we bumped into a placard which indicated the way to follow.
The first steps were on a wide path.
After a few meters, the path dissappeared and we headed into a narrow slope which suddenly became in a hard descent.
In the beginnig was a land path.
For later, it transformed in stone way.
Aftre crossing very carefully we bumped into two welcomed panels.
At the left side of asphalt we could already feel the water running. This indicated us the abundance of water in the village. The gutter is full of liquid element.
After little more than a kilometer, we arrived at Santa Lucia. The starting point of the route of Water Mills.
From this point, the sound of water would be accompanying all the time. This ran along the gutter, felt from the aqueducts and went out from mills.
The first mill is situated in the square of the village, just in the back of the famous meat restaurant, La Castillería.
Soon, we saw the Santa Lucia Aqueduct.
The Batan mill was created just below the aqueduct in the place where water could move the stone wheel.
In the picture below, we can observe how the water run on the gutter aqueduct.
Miraflores was the next mill.
The paths that interconnect the different mills are narrow. Beause of it had been a dry season the trails had little mud. I can not imagine how it should be after a few rainy days.
Soon we went out the narrow trail and went into the narrow path.
At the end of the trail we bumped into a impeccable 2CV Citroen.
We abandoned the fertile plain and walked along the albero path.
Soon we reached at the road, Medina - Vejer.
After a few meters, we turned right. Among the weeds it could glimpse the sign showed the right direction.
Again, we were walking between reeds. The water was our friend once more time.
In the horizon, it can see the beautiful vilalge of Vejer.
Route of water mills was almost over.
The bustle of Santa Lucia was heard from afar.
This vibe meant that beer hour had arrived.
After kit-kat, we took up the path to Vejer. While we came and jut before the feared rise we met a old friends. They invoted us to go up by car. We could not reject it. In this way we finished the route by car.
