Hoya de la Mora - Veleta (Al Andalus Activa)

Esta nueva aventura nos llevará al Veleta, con una altitud de 3395 metros, es la tercera montaña más alta de la peninsula ibérica. Para realizar esta ascensión invernal contratamos los servicios de la empresa de deportes de aventura Al Andalus Activa.

This new adventure will bring us to Veleta, with a height of 3395 meters, is the third highest mountain of the Iberian peninsula. To perform this activity, we hired the services of the sport adventure agency Al Andalus Activa.

En el horizonte, el Veleta nos espera.

On the horizon, the Veleta is waiting us.

Somos siete más Jesús, el guia de montaña. Emprendemos el camino con ilusión.

We are seven people besides Jesus, the mountain guide. We undertaken with illusion.

A veces caminamos por las pistas de la estación de esquí de Sierra Nevada.

Sometimes, we walk over the pistes of the ski station and other times over the virgin snow.

A medida que ganamos altura la nieve esta más dura y aparecen las primeras placas de hielo. Así que hay que ponerse los crampones.

The snow is hard and the first ice layers appear. Therefore, we  have to put on the crampons.

La silueta del veleta esta siempre vigilante.

The silhouette of the peak is always watchful.

Al echar la mirada atrás, vemos la cresta por la que hemos avanzado.

Looking at back, we see the ridge over which we have walked.

Jesús, nuestro guía, nos lleva a buen ritmo.

Jesús, our guide, keeps a constant pace.

 

Las primeras nubes cubren el cielo.

The first clouds cover the sky.

 

A medida que avanzamos las fuerzas van disminuyendo.

With each step, our strengths are vanishing.

Empieza la última pala, es la mas empinada. La falta de oxigeno nos dificulta el avance.

We are on the steepest slope. The lack of oxygen provokes an awkward progress.

Los crampones fucionan a la perfección.

The crampons works really well.

Ese pequeña manchita negra es la cumbre.

That little black shape is the summit.

La nube nos abraza. La visibilidad es casi nula.

The cloud wraps us.  The visibility is almost null.

Después de unas tres horas hemos alcanzado la cima. Estamos a 3395 metros sobre el nivel del mar

After three hours, we have reached the summit. We are situated 3995 meters over the sea-level.

Los Cahorros - Monachil

Por fin toca un sendero cortito y fácil, y ya que el sendero empieza en el Merendero San Garrito, antes de emprender la marcha nos tomamos una cervecitas con algunas cositas ricas para el paladar.

 

At last, a short and easy trekking. Due to the fact that the path starts at the Merendero San Garrito, before starting to walk, we have a few beers and some delicious things.

 

Detrás mía el bar, y a mi izquierda, el camino. El tiempo está nublado, lo cual parecía un incoveninte, pero después comprobamos que fué una ventaja.

 

Behind me, the restaurant, and to my left, the path. The day is cloudy, at fisrt sigth sounds bad, but later we would realise that we were lucky.

 

Seguimos la indicación a Cahorros Bajos.

We follow the direction toward Cahorros Bajos.

La ruta transcurre a lo largo del rio Monachil. Tendremos que cruzaz algunos puentes, gatear por algunos angostos pasos, ...

This route runs along the Monachil river. We will have to cross some bridges, crawl along narrow paths, ...

La primera parte del camino es mas ancha y se transita con facilidad.

The first part is wider and it is easily walked.

Primer puente, llega el momento de hacer el tonto.

 

First bridge, it comes the moment to do the monkey.

 

Hay que subir algunas escaleras escarvadas en la pared.

We must cross some stairs which were carved on the wall.

Otro puente.

Another bridge.

 





Llegamos al famoso Puente Colgante de los Cahorros con 63 metros de longitud.

 

We face to the longest bridge of the route, Hanging Bridge of the Cahorros, with a length of 63 meters.



Después del puente el camino se estrecha.

 

After the bridge, the path gets more narrow.

 

La paredes de la garganta se acercan con cada paso que damos.

With each step, the walls of the gorge get closer.

A gatear toca.

Crawling is the only way to keep the walking.

Después  de tres kilometrso salimos de la garganta.

 

After three kilometers, the gorge overs.

Este es el último puente. No lo cruzamos y emprendemos el camino de vuelta.

 

This is the last bridge. We do not cross it and the coming back starts.

En algunos puntos, hay unas clavijas en la pared que nos facilite el paso.

 

In a few points, there some pegs on the wall to do the path more easy. 

De vuelta en el puente más largo.

Again in the longest bridge.

A partir de este putno, la ruta transcurre por la otra orilla del rio.

From this location, the route runs along the other shore of the river. 

Abajo, vemos el puente por el que transitamos a la ida.

 

Below, we can see the bridge over which we walked on the outward trekking.

Hacemos una pequeña parada en este bonito miraror.

This nice viewpoint invites us to stop walking and enjoy the moment.

 



Después de poco más de dos horitas la visita al sendero de los Cahorros ha terminado. 

 

After more or less two hours, our treeking has finished.

 

En la siguiente foto se puede observar el porque hay que venir entre semana o con mal tiempo. Hay días que para cruzar el puente más largo se puede tardar una hora.

 

On the next picture, it can see why this route should do on labour days or with bad weather. With the crowd, it may take one hour to cross the longest bridge.
