III Trail de Grazalema, ni media ni larga (2016)

Os preguntareis porque ni media ni larga, otra vez Chapi haciendo de las suyas diría Sergio K2, el creador de la KDD La Última Selva. En mitad de la crónica saldréis de duda.

People will ask themself why neither half-race nor long-race, Sergio K2, who created The Ultima Selva Meeting, would say, again Chapi had done some strange thing. Later, you will find out the reason.

Esta vez nos acompaña nuestra querida Pilar, incansable muchacha que se apunta a todo lo que  le digamos. Temprano desayunamos en el hotel

This time our beloved Pilar will join to us. In the opening hour of the day we have a succulent breakfast.

El día esta lluvioso asi que llevamos los chubasqueros.

It is a rainy day. Therefore, we wear the raincoats.

Como siempre, Chito animando el cotarro.

As always, Chito Speaker warms the vibe.

Todo el mundo esta preparado. Por delante nos espera, 23 kilómetros a Pilar y Yolanda; y a mi casi 50 kilómetros.

Everybody is ready. Some of the runners will have to run 23 kilometers and the rest almost 50 kilometers.

Después de la cuenta atrás empieza la carrera.

Starting the race before the countdown.

Pronto abandonamos el asfalto para pisar piedra.

Soon, we leave behind us the road and we start to feel the stones under our feets.

El único tramo sin piedras es la bajada desde el puerto del Boyar hasta Grazalema. Se aprovecha para empujar un poco y acelerar el ritmo.

The downhill from the Boyar toward Grazalema is soft and without stones. We push to run faster.

Entre las nubes se vislumbra la bonita villa de Grazalema.

The amazing Grazalema village is glimpsed between the clouds.

Empieza la temida subida al Cerro Coros.

The fearsome uphill to Cerro Coro has started.

Abajo el pantano de Zahara.

Below, the Zahara reservoir.

La subida nos ha dejado sin aliento.

The tough steep has left us breathless. 

Sin un respiro, emprendo una rápida bajada. Cuando llego a bajo del todo, me doy cuenta que he perdido uno de los bastones, así que me doy media vuelta y vuelvo a subir al Cerro Coro en busca del bastón perdido.

Without a second thought, I start to go down very fast. the path is funny. When I arrive to the base of the peak I realise that I have lost one of my poles, so I turn round and again I start to go up to Cerro Coro.

Casi en la cima, me encuentro con Yolanda y Pilar y decido abandonar la búsqueda del bastón perdido. En este momento, mi carrera larga se convierte en carrera media.

Almost on the peak, I bump into Yolanda and Pilar. I decide to abandon the searching of the lost walking pole. At this moment, my race gets shorter.

Debido a la lluvia, algunos tramos son un lodazal.

Due to the rain we have to put ours feets into mud.

Nuestros pasos son torpes.

Our steps are awkawrd.

Por fin venos de nuevo Grazalema. La meta esta cerca.

At last, we can see Grazalema, The arriving line is nearby.

Ya estamos en la última subida.

Already We are on the last slope.

Después de casi seis horas la línea de meta es cruzada por Yolanda y Pilar.

After almost six hours, the finishing line is crossed by Yolanda and Pilar.

Como las grandes famosas, son entrevistadas por Chito.

Like great famous women, they are intervwied by Chito Speaker.

Para celebrarlo, un gran chuletón.

We celebrate it with a great red steak.

Resumiendo, una gran carrera que recomiendo a todo el mundo. Y por supuesto, ya no vuelvo a perder un bastón. Antes de empezar a correr me aseguro de sujetarlos bien a la mochila.

To sum up, a really fantastic mountain race which I recomend. And of course, I will not lose a  pole again. Before starting to run, I will properly hang my poles in the backpack.

Torreón - Crestería de San Cristobal - Pinsapar (Cumbres del Sur)

Hoy toca subir al pico más alto de la provincia de Cádiz, El Torreón con una altura de 1654 metros. Para realizar esta actividad decidimos ponernos en contacto con la empresa de turismo activo Cumbres del Sur situada en la villa de El Bosque. Después de la subida del Torreón, crestearíamos por la sierra de San Cristobal y volveríamos por el Pinsapar. 

IMPORTANTE. En la crestería no hay camino, así que recomiendo realizarlo con una empresa o con alguien que conozca bien la zona. Además, para subir al Torreón realizar la crestería y caminar por el pinsapar hace falta pedir permiso a la junta de Andalucía.

Today, we will go up to the higher peak in the Cadiz province, El Torreón with a height of 1654 meters. For doing this activity, we got in touch with the active tourism agency, Cumbres del Sur, settled in El Bosque. After reaching the peak, we will trek along the ridge of San Crsitobal and will come back trough Pinsapar.

IMPORTANT. For the ridge, there is no path, so I recomend to get in touch with an agency or with a guy who knows the place. In addition, it is necessary to obtain a permission to walk along these paths.

Pronto empezamos a subir. Los primeros metros no son muy duros.

The steep just starts behind the panel. The first meters are not very hard. 

De vez en cuando se realiza una parada para recuperar el aliento y admirar el paisaje. Esta vez se junto mi amigo de la infancia Fran, también conocido como El Caminante.

From time to time, we made a stop to catch our breath and admire the views. My childhood friend, Fran, joined to the trekking. 

Durante la subida hay unas cuantas señales indicando el camino.

During the uphill, the signals mark the path.

La senda desaparece bajo nuestros pies, llega la hora de trepar.

The path vanishes under our feet, it comes the time to crawl.

Después de una corta pero intensa subida, alcanzamos el punto más alto de la provincia de Cádiz.

After a short but intensive climbing, we reached the highest peak of the Cadiz province. 

Bajamos la cota para perseguir nuestro siguiente objetivo del día, la crestería de San Cristobal.

We lowered height to chase our next target, the ridge of San Cristobal.

Después de bajar, toca subir.

After lowering, it is time to climb.

A nuestra izquierda, se puede vislumbras la silueta de algunos senderistas en el torreón.

To our left, we can glimpse the silhoutte of some walkers on the Torreón.

 

El camino no esta nada indicado, hay que tener mucha precaución.

There are no signals along the path, so we have to be really careful.

En el horizonte, San Cristobal.

A nuestra izquierda se observan algunos pinsapos centenarios. La forma irregular del pinsapo es debido a los fuertes vientos que azotan la zona.

There are some centenarian Pinsapos. The pinsapo is a native tree. Its irregular shape is due to the fact that the wind in this area hits the trees.

No hay palabras para describir los paisajes.

There are no words to describe the landscapes.

Algunos pasos son estrechos y un poquito peliagudos.

Sometimes, the path gets narrow dangerously. our steps are awkward.

Por fin, se acaba la cresta.

At last, the ridge is over.

Debajo nuestra, la villa de Grazalema.

Below us, the village of Grazalema.
 

Aprovechamos este pequeño collado para descansar y comer.

In this small and green meadow we eat and relaxe for a while.

En la colina, hay un antiguo pozo de hielo.

In the hill, there is an ancient ice well. 

Es tarde, así que dedicimos no subir al pico de San Cristobal y emprender el camino de vuelta por el pinsapar.

It is late, so we think that the best idea is, do not climb to San Cristobal and start the the back path through the Pinsapar.

La bajada es peligrosa. La pendinte es bastante fuerte. Casi hay que volar sobre las rocas.

The downhill is dangerous, The steep is really hard and there are too many rocks. We will have to be careful.

La parte más dura ha terminado, por delante tenemos un bajada suave y facil hasta Benamahoma.

The path more difficult has finished. Now the path goes down softly.

El sol se pone. Los ultimos metros son por una pista comoda.

The sun is hidding. The last meters are through a comfortable path. 

Y por fín, después de más de nueve horas llegamos a Benamahora. Y como siempre lo celebramos con una cerveza fresquita.

At last, after more than nine hours walking, the village of Benamora is got. And as usual, the goal is cheered with a cool beer.
